Cloud engineering and DevOps

Cloud engineering in Munich. Infrastructure that runs, scales and stays affordable.

Sortia Labs plans, builds and operates cloud infrastructure for companies in Munich and across Germany: AWS, Azure, Kubernetes, Docker and self-hosting in your own data centre. From migrating a single application to full operations with monitoring, backups and CI/CD.

What we deliver in cloud engineering

Cloud migration

Applications and databases from on-premise servers to AWS or Azure, or from an expensive cloud back to your own hardware. Planned, tested, with the shortest possible switch-over.

Kubernetes and containers

Docker images, Kubernetes and OpenShift clusters, Helm charts, database operators. Also small setups with Docker Compose when Kubernetes would be too much.

CI/CD and GitOps

Automated builds, tests and deployments with GitHub Actions, GitLab CI or ArgoCD. Every change traceable, every rollback one click.

Monitoring and observability

Prometheus, Grafana, Loki, uptime checks and alerting. You learn about problems before your customers call.

Self-hosting and homelab operations

Proxmox, Traefik, nginx, Tailscale: your own infrastructure for companies that want to keep data in house or need to cut cloud costs.

Cost control

Reserved instances, rightsizing, switching off what was forgotten. After the first audit you know where savings are possible.

Approach

How we work

  1. 1

    Audit

Inventory of servers, services, costs and risks. You get a map of your infrastructure and a prioritised list.

  2. 2

    Target design

An architecture that fits your size: not every company needs Kubernetes, not every company should be in the public cloud.

  3. 3

    Implementation

Infrastructure as code, migration in stages, load tests. The old setup stays until the new one has proven it carries the load.

  4. 4

    Operation

Monitoring, updates, backups, on-call. As a fixed monthly price or as training so your team takes over.

Why Sortia Labs for your cloud

Experience from banking IT

High availability, traceability and security are our standard, not an extra.

Neutral on the platform

We earn nothing from the cloud provider. If your own servers are cheaper, we recommend your own servers.

Databases included

Cloud without a clean database architecture is a risk. We take care of both, see database consulting.

On site in Munich

Data centre visits, workshops and emergencies on site. Operations and monitoring remote, with alerts when something fails.

Frequently asked questions about cloud engineering

AWS, Azure or own servers: which is right?

It depends on load, privacy, team and budget. For fluctuating load and global users the public cloud is strong; for constant load and sensitive data your own servers are often much cheaper. We calculate both options for you.

How long does a cloud migration take?

A single application with database: two to four weeks including tests. A whole company IT: three to six months in stages, each stage with a planned, short switch-over.

Do you also run operations afterwards?

Yes, as a fixed monthly price with monitoring, updates, backups and agreed response times. Or we train your team and stay in the background as an escalation level.

Do we need Kubernetes?

Usually not. Below about ten services, Docker Compose on two servers with backups is simpler, cheaper and just as reliable. Kubernetes pays off with many services, several teams or high scale.

Can you cut our cloud costs?

Often, yes. Typical causes are oversized instances, forgotten volumes, missing reservations, traffic going the wrong way. The audit has a fixed price and often pays for itself quickly.

Let us take a look at your infrastructure.

A two-day audit shows where your cloud burns money and where it carries risk. You get a report your management understands too.
